Hearing M2L2 SignersĀ
Presenter: Dr. Deborah Chen Pichler
Hearing students who learn to sign as a second language are known as M2L2 sign language learners (learning their L2 in a second modality). They represent the most frequently researched case of L2 sign language learning. Research on hearing adult sign language learners from multiple countries is helping us to identify learning patterns and tendencies that may be universal across hearing M2L2 students. Exchanges with sign language teachers is critical for guiding the direction of future linguistic research, to identify areas that they feel would be the most useful in the classroom.
