Cultivating Curiosity

Presenter: Linsay Darnall, Jr.

This presentation, Cultivating Curiosity in Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children, emphasizes the vital role of curiosity in the cognitive and social development of DHH children. It begins with an overview of the challenges faced by these children. Key strategies for fostering curiosity are discussed, including creating inclusive environments, encouraging exploration, and involving parents and educators. Practical activities such as visual storytelling, hands-on science experiments, and creative arts are highlighted, alongside case studies and success stories. The presentation concludes with a discussion on valuable resources and community support, aiming
to equip educators and parents with the tools needed to nurture curiosity in DHH children.

Presenter: Dr. Jason E. Zinza

How to Teach Non-Manual Markers (NMM) Effectively

Presenter: Stacy Steggs

Explore strategies for teaching non-manual markers (NMMs) in ASL with clarity and creativity. This workshop covers definitions, examples, and techniques for incorporating NMMs into lessons. Participants will practice creating video examples, giving constructive feedback, and using engaging activities to help students master NMMs with confidence.

Our webinar organizer will distribute the Zoom link 12-24 hours prior to the webinar session.

If you have registered but are unable to attend the webinar, you can be provided with a link to the Zoom recording. However, you will not be able to get a certificate of attendance or ASLTA CEUs if you are not present for the webinar.

Please allow for up to two weeks for processing of ASLTA CEUs and certificates of attendance after a webinar.

ASLTA webinars are scheduled for Eastern Standard Time. Please remember to check the corresponding time zone for your part of the country to ensure you attend accordingly. 

Zoom ID and Password
  • All registrants will receive the Zoom link, meeting number, and password 24 hours before the webinar is scheduled to begin.
  • If you registered for a webinar and have not received the Zoom information, please contact pd@aslta.org immediately. Include your first and last name in the email subject line. 
Refund Policy
  1. Registrants who do not attend the scheduled webinar will not receive a refund.
  2. Registrants may receive a 50% refund of webinar fees if cancellation is made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled webinar.
  3. A 15% processing fee is applied to all refunds.
  4. Refunds will be made via check and mailed to you within 10 business days.
Necessary Equipment
  1. It is strongly recommended that you use a laptop or desktop computer to connect to the webinar.
  2. Tablet devices are not recommended for ASLTA webinars, as all Zoom features may not be available on a tablet.

Click the “register here” button below, select “after event viewing,” enter the webinar title you’d like to see, and fill out the remaining form with your payment information. *Note that watching the recording will not earn you ASLTA CEUs.
