Getting Started

Congratulations on taking this significant step toward achieving ASLTA certification! We are thrilled to have you here! Our certification program is our pride, as it is the only national-level certification for ASL teaching. We welcome you to continue reading and learn more about our certifications. This page is your gateway to a rewarding professional milestone. We encourage you to carefully review each step of the application process outlined below. Your meticulous completion of these stages is essential to advancing through the ASLTA certification program.

The ASLTA certification application form can be found at the bottom of this page.

Step 1: ASLTA Membership

You must have an ASLTA Certified-level membership and hold an ASL Teaching Certificate Level I before you can begin the ASLTA Certification Promotion process.

If you have both in good standing, please proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Review Requirements

A critical step that requires your careful review of the eligibility criteria for certification promotion. You can download and review the PDF file of the promotion requirements. You will need to provide documentation showing you meet each requirement.

You will need to collect all of the required documentation before proceeding with the ASLTA certification promotion application.

Step 3: Application Form

Now that you have reviewed the eligibility requirements for ASLTA certification, please proceed with the remaining steps below and then submit the application form located at the bottom of this page.

You will be required to upload the necessary documents with the certification promotion application form.

If your ASLTA membership is not current, your application will not proceed. It is your responsibility to ensure that your membership is up to date. Verify your membership status by checking your ASLTA profile or contacting Treasurer@ASLTA.org.

Step 4: Your Google Drive Folder

Once your application is received, the Evaluation & Certification Director will create a new subfolder in your Google Drive folder with the documents that you’ve uploaded in your application.

Step 5: Application Result

There are two possible outcomes of your application:

Approved: The Evaluation & Certifications Director has reviewed and determined that your recent professional development activities meet ASLTA’s certification standards and requirements.

Not Approved: The Evaluation & Certification Director has reviewed and determined that your recent professional development activities do not meet ASLTA’s certification standards and requirements. You will be asked to revalidate your ASL Teaching Certificate Level I by completing the revalidation process.
