Questions About ASL Proficiency Assessments

ASLTA accepts both the ASLPI and SLPI:ASL assessments for certification purposes. 

The ASLPI can take 1-4+ weeks to schedule an assessment.

It can take 6-8 weeks to obtain assessment scores.

Scores from the ASLPI or SLPI:ASL that are less than 5 years old fulfill the ASL proficiency requirement.

The EIPA is an assessment that evaluates interpreting skills. It does not focus on ASL proficiency.

The ASLPI or SLPI:ASL requirement cannot be fulfilled by EIPA scores. 

RID certification is an assessment that evaluates interpreting skills. It does not focus on ASL proficiency.

The ASLPI or SLPI:ASL requirement cannot be fulfilled by RID certification. 

The TX ASLPI is an assessment that evaluates ASL proficiency.

The ASLPI or SLPI:ASL requirement cannot be fulfilled by an A-F score on the TX ASLPI.
